MY ROOTS

I come from an array of diverse ethnicities

The Chamorro side is salty, sassy, and strong

The Filipino side deals with sinigang and accents

The Chinese side is one that’s inexplicable

The Vietnamese side is one that gives me pride

I’m like pancake batter

Mix Chamorro, Filipino, Chinese, Vietnamese, and bam there’s me!

INSPIRATIONAL MESSAGE:  This poem is about my culture. I hope more people will learn to embrace their identity, no matter the race, religion, or social class. Remember that YOU ARE LOVED!

WORRY

Worry is such a stalker
Asking me questions as if he was my father
Making me question what might come next
It's like he never wants to rest
Holding me back from what I want to do
He always talks about my future and loved ones, too
Worry always makes me feel fraught
He stresses me out a lot
He always makes me feel this way
Why won't he just go away?
Worry always turns me into a mess
Well, that is what he does best.

INSPIRATION MESSAGE:  There are things that will bring you down in life, but it won't always be that way.

FLOWING WITH THE WIND

Someday the world will hear my roar.

Someday I will master butterfly pullups.

Someday I will have the strength to hold a freestanding handstand.

Someday youths will be emancipated from technology.

Someday drugs won’t encumber people.

Someday there will be a cure for cancer.

Someday abuse will end.

Somedays kids will stop using drugs.

Someday youths will start planning for a better future.

Someday…
